Reuben E. Buckley
Reuben E. Buckley (b. 1845) was the oldest son of Benjamin M. Buckley (b. ca. 1823) and Martha Buckley (b. ca. 1827). On March 22, 1862, Benjamin Buckley and his son, Reuben, enlisted in Co. I, 36th Mississippi Infantry. On July 4, 1863, Reuben Buckley became a prisoner of war when Confederate forces at Vicksburg surrendered. He was exchanged on December 20, but was taken prisoner a year later at Nashville during Hood’s invasion of Tennessee. Buckely was paroled on May 23, 1865. After the war, Buckley moved to Florida and by 1870 was married (wife’s name Arrena) and was father of a one year old, Mittie. Before 1880, Reuben and his family moved back to Mississippi and settled in Jasper County.
