Benjamin L. Mobley Papers, 1861-1891

Brothers James M. Mobley (b. ca. 1841) and Benjamin L. Mobley (b. ca. 1843) were sons of Burke County, Georgia farmer, Alexander Mobley (b. ca. 1819). Both brothers enlisted as privates in Co. E, Cobb’s Georgia Legion on August 1, 1861. They served in Virginia for most of the war, and both survived to return home, although Benjamin L. Mobley was taken prisoner and spent time in Elmira prison camp in New York.
