Biography:
Robert C. Caldwell (b. ca. 1823) was a Cabarrus County, North Carolina farmer. He served as a private in Co. C, 10th Battalion North Carolina Heavy Artillery. Most of the letters in the collection were written by Caldwell to his wife, Margaret (b. ca. 1835). There are also letters written by various family members including some serving in the Confederate Army.
