Andrew Boyd
Andrew Boyd (1846-1864) resided in Abbeville County, South Carolina with his family. His three other brothers and his brother-in-law served in the Confederacy. Andrew joined Co. D, 7th South Carolina Infantry after his brother Robert Pressly's death and his brother Daniel's battle injury at the Battle of Gettysburg. When Daniel returned to the 7th S.C., he brought Andrew with him as a recruit. Within four months, Andrew was wounded at the Battle of the Wilderness on May 6, 1864 and died on May 30 in a Lynchburg, Virginia hospital. His cause of death was listed as Cephalaemia (blood congestion of the brain), and he was buried at the Old City Cemetery in Lynchburg, Virginia.
