W. H. Tucker Papers, 1862-1864

William H. Tucker (b. ca. 1825) was a Newton County, Georgia Farmer. He married Delaney Dennard (b. ca. 1831) on January 1, 1850, and by 1860 the couple had four children (three more were born by 1865). W. H. Tucker served as a private in Co. C, 63rd Georgia Infantry. This small collection consists of letters written by (or for) W. H. and Delaney (according to the 1860 Census neither could read or write). His last letter is dated July 1864, and it is uncertain whether W. H. Tucker survived the war. He is not listed in the 1870 Census (Delaney was then head of the household).
