James Joshua Amick papers

James J. Amick (b. ca. 1832) was a native of the Dutch Fork area of Lexington District, South Carolina. He was married to Mahala C. Epting Amick (1836 – 1929). He served in Company I, 15th South Carolina Infantry. James J. Amick was one of eleven Amicks from Lexington District who served in the 15th South Carolina Infantry. Several other relatives served in the 20th SC Infantry James J. Amick enlisted in December 1861 and was taken prisoner at Halltown, West Virginia on August 26, 1864. He was confined at Harpers Ferry before being transferred to Point Lookout, Maryland in March 1865, where he died of scurvy in June of 1865.
