James Jackson Davis (b. AL ca. 1833) was a farmer from Itawamba County, Mississippi. At the time of the 1860 Census, he and his wife, Elizabeth J. Davis (b. SC ca. 1837) were parents of three daughters, Martha (5), Mary (3), and Indiana (1). James Jackson enlisted as a private in Co. C, 43rd Mississippi Infantry on May 2, 1862. He was wounded and taken prisoner at the Battle of Corinth on October 4, 1862 and died of his wounds on October 12.
